He currently owns a commercial building, which is under
construction, a wholesale and retail shop and two petrol
stations all thanks to Mudete SACCO for the financing. He has
plans for business expansion.
Like Ambei, Mr. Hillary Agalomba, a tea grower from Mudete
joined Mudate in 2012 and has since made his dream a reality.
Mr. Hillary runs Sindikiza butchery and owns a two-acre piece
of land on which he grows tea.
He narrates how it was difficult for him to access credit that he
needed to enable him purchase land.
“Before buying the land, I used to rent and plant tea. I was
introduced to Mudete SACCO and I discussed my plans with
them. They were able to listen and give me a development loan
of Sh1.2 million through which I purchased land and developed
residential buildings.”
Since then Mr. Hillary has been consistently saving with the
SACCO and has so far introduced five new members to the
SACCO.
“At Mudete SACCO, you get personal contacts. People you
can talk to and share your experience,” says Hillary.

of youths in the area, changing their lives significantly.
“I wanted to uplift the lives of local youth who were sitting idle
due to lack of employment,” he recounts.
Since then, his life has changed for the better.
“I have been able to carry myself with dignity because I can
now sustain myself and my business. The Mudete SACCO loans
have helped me in a big way, both in business and in my family.
I am happy Mudete SACCO listened to me,” he proudly shares.
A focused man, he owes his success in entrepreneurship to
his discipline in repaying loans. He says that through this, he
has been able to develop long lasting relationships with his
financial partners and reckons that by repaying small loans
promptly, he has graduated to higher ones.
“I will forever be grateful to Mudate for enabling me to unlock
my potential and have confidence that one can start in a
small way, but grow big with time,” he says, “It is my financial
partner of choice.”
The transformative success and heart touching stories from
members of Mudete SACCO is testament of the SACCO’s role
in transforming lives.
According to Sharon Lilayi Chiseno, Mudete SACCO’s Marketing
Manager, the SACCO has built a successful brand of products
that perform well in the market.
The Society has embarked on improving the quality of service
delivery through professional human resource.
She said that by hiring professionals, the business gets new
ideas needed for sustainability. Experts argue that for a
business to grow successfully, it must be driven by core values.
According to the duo, focus, discipline and character are the
three values that have helped them bear fruits.
“Without such values, you can successfully run a business for
20 years but bring it down in a single day,” advises Chiseno.
